Back to School Special with Reagan!

Hey cool kids. I hope your summer has been absolutely fabulous, but as it comes to an end, I hope you all look back and remember all the neat or not so neat things you've done! This summer has been quite a big one for me! To me, summer is about putting away your school life and the whole 'trying to fit in' thing, and find yourself again with the help of your friends and family. So I thought since school is right around the corner and the possibility that many readers are middle school and in high school, I could give tips on how to survive school!

I am going into the 9th grade and I know I'm not going to be perfect at helping people get through that, but I can try. I am professionally trained on how to get through middle school though. Lol. Middle school was definitely one of the hardest things I had to go through social wise. It didn't help me any that I was new to the school in the sixth grade and had pretty much fake friends until last year when I became best friends with Zoe. Zoe is really great and I could go on forever about her but unfortunately, I can't. Haha! She is blogging with us so be sure to read her posts! Okay, everyone has their school sob stories and I'm not going to share mine because that is a waste of not only my time, but yours.

So lets just cut to the chase, the survival tips. Haha! A good way to enjoy the school year is to start off organized. I often find myself disorganized and then I just get grumpy. Number 2: If you have friends, congrats, if you don't, GET OUT THERE AND MAKE FRIENDS WITH A RANDOM PERSON THEY WILL END UP BEING YOUR BEST FRIEND AND YOU WILL END UP BEING HAPPY. I know you might be thinking to yourself, "how do you just go make a friend that easily...I'm shy to begin with." If you are thinking that right now here is what I have to say to you, WHO THE FRICK CARES?! I promise you if you say 'hi' to one person and smile, they'll want to be your friend. Stop overthinking things, it isn't good for the soul. I know it seems hard and you're probably telling me it's not that easy for some people, but I promise you if you step out of your comfort zone for a little bit, your school year will be so much better.

But if that's not convincing enough here is a little saying, worrying won't stop from happening, it just stops you from enjoying the good. See, I only have a couple of friends and that works for me because I can focus on my school and still have people to hang out with on the weekends. Also you don't have to have friends in all your classes. It's better to focus on your work anyways, you want to be able to get into a good college and you can't do that if you're in a class goofing around with your friends. Music is a pretty big thing in my life so what I do is I put my headphones in after the teacher is done talking, I do my work, I get it done early, and I get to do other things. You'd be surprised how much that'll raise your grade.

Number 3: set goals for the semester. If you find that you have a really really hard class that you don't think you're going to get good grades in, set a goal to get a certain percentage. Now don't only set the goal, plan it out, and make the goal. If along the way you find that things aren't working out, change the plan, not the goal.

Number 4: DONT CARE WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THINK OF YOU, YOU ARE AN AMAZING PERSON AND YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. I'm not the type of person that follows the trends at my school. I wear what I want and if they don't like it, I could care less. This school year I'm going for the 80s high school look. I know it sounds crazy but I'm modernizing it to look great! Another thing, if you think you're fat, you need to leave the country because you should never put yourself down like that. If you really feel that self conscious about it, do something about it instead of sitting there hating yourself. Honestly, society is so messed up now. Don't listen to that and if you don't listen to that society will change. Look at pictures of people in the 60s. Were they a bit chubby? Yeah! But was everyone okay with that? Yeah! So why cant we all be okay with it? You shouldn't have to be stick skinny to be socially acceptable. Just do your own thing and stop worrying about other people.

That's all I have for you guys right now! I'll be back soon with more tips! I hope these helped! Thanks for reading!!

Charlie and chilling out.

Hey guys! It's Charlie! Today I taught The Twins a very important lesson, to make like a chinchilla, and "Chin-chill out!" So the story starts last night...
I got nominated for the ALS "Dust Bucket Challenge."  The Twins were ecstatic! So it was off to playtime the very next morning. But long story short, we didn't have much time. Well, they went ahead anyways, thinking "It'll be easy! 'Charlie will hop in the box, take a bath, and we'll pour the dust on top of him" Well, it was not. I just kept running away scared, and they started to panic! I guess their time-pressured nervous energy rubbed off on me,  so I didn't do it. The twins persisted, so they put all kinds of things in that box-raisins, chews, my favorite toys, even more dust!-so then their mom stepped in to the bathroom and cleared things up for them. She said something like this, "Girls, maybe Charlie's acting up because the two of you are so stressed!" After that the twins realized that they should take a deep breath, relax, and let me do my thing!  And one of them suggested that she step out for a minute and chin-chill out, while the other took me home to try again later. And guess what, I hopped right in the dustbath after she left! So after the walk home, I leaped into my cage and was handed an apology and an orange puzzle chew, for helping them realize what was really important, to take things slow, live in the now, and most of all, be like a chinchilla, and just chin-chill out!

Hey guys! It's Charlie and The Twins! Otherwise known as @chincharlie {the chinchilla} on
Instagram and well, The Twins would like to remain anonymous. Anyways, what you'll find in our posts are lots of tips, tricks, and fun little tid-bits about caring for your furry, {or feathered} little friend! So sit back, relax, and enjoy the almost-daily adventures of two girls and their adorable little pets!

I moved out.

a little over a week ago I signed the lease to my very first apartment. so far I have slept here for two nights.

most peoples main question was: why did it take you so long to sleep there? I'm assuming most people thought that I would have slept on the floor the first night I signed it (I thought about it). one reason that I didn't the first night was because someone told me they didn't want me to sleep on the floor. the majority of the reason why it took me literally a full week was because I brought over all of my clothes, my every day use things, and the food over last (I thought that made most sense).

it took me exactly one week to move all of my things in. I refused to stay here alone without my dog being here. so our first night wasn't too bad, although I think she had a hard time adjusting. she barked a lot through the night and I don't think she slept much. I think every time she heard a door open she barked or stared at the door through the darkness. and I vaguely remember getting up around 4 in the morning to let her out to potty and then coming back in and passing out again. at 6 in the morning she woke me up to take her out again. as| I walked out of the apartment I was blinded by the sun and literally had to shield my eyes and hoped that no one was looking at me because I probably looked so ridiculous because of my reaction.

my first full day of being "out in the world alone" was quite eventful, none the less. I ran errands like a mad woman. I bought a handful of groceries for less than $50 and was still able to put around $130 remaining from my entire paycheck into my savings.

I've found that most of the people in this town are very friendly, men and woman. I've noticed that I don't get hit on, but flirted with in a respectful matter. which is strange knowing what town boarders mine and that I'm not to too far from the shitty parts.

my complex almost feels like a pleasant secluded area. pretty quiet with the occasional neighboring dog barks and cars passing by. my new home feels safe and welcoming. I have slept better these past two nights and have not waken up with a headache yet (yay for no longer living by any kind of factories!) the air here feels cleaner yet a little dry, but I'm ok with that.

I don't want to speak too soon and say that everything is great and wonderful and that I'm happy and I've made an awesome decision and done super good. but everyone close to me is happy for me and proud of me and has said how good I've done. but like everything else, I refuse to take it how it's supposed to be taken and I still yet question things. did I really do a good job? is this really what it seems to be? is this everything that I thought it would be? I won't know until some time goes by.

OPERATION CHINCHILLA: Sandra, Sanno, and introducting Shoyu!

My Little Rescue Chinchilla, Shoyu<3

Hello All! My name is Sandra Marie and I'm here to tell you a story about a chinchilla or two ^_^. I'm sure many of you are aware of the news regarding the 420 rescued chinchillas from Adams Valley View Chinchilla Ranch in California. My best friend and I were in the car when she had that video pop up on her Facebook News Feed. Everyone who's met me knows me as "The Girl with the Chinchilla" here in San Diego! You see, I've had my lil' baby, Sanno the Standard Grey Chinchilla, since he was four months old in 2003! He was my 6th grade graduation present from my mom, and to this day the best present I've ever received in my life. He's brought love, joy, entertainment, fluffy cuteness and dusty snuggles into my life since day one! When my friend read the article to me, it broke my heart into a million pieces. How could humans hurt such loving, precious creatures for VANITY and MATERIALISTIC reasons, and in such inhumane ways? The very first thought that came to mind was "I need to save one."

The next day (August 21, 2014) my best friend, Maxine, my boyfriend, Victor and I made our rounds in Petco and Petsmart first thing in the morning! We bought new chew toys, cuddle plushies, treats, a water bottle, a food bowl, hay, bedding and dust for the new addition and for Sanno as well! We got to the San Diego Humane Society around 10:58 AM waiting for the adoptions to begin at 11 AM! We thought we were going to be the only people there ready to see the chins, but boy were we WRONG! There was a whole line of people waiting to give a little one a new, happy and forever home. The staff were very kind and informed us that it was going to be an extremely slow process as to not stress the chins out even more than they already were. I waited one and a half hours for my turn to see them, and in that time I saw five single chinchillas and two pairs get taken home. Not only that, I saw a woman come in with a huge wagon of treats, towels, chews and hay to donate! It was so beautiful and tear-jerking to see so many people come together to help and lend their hearts, homes and a helping hand to these amazing little creatures.

Finally 1:40 PM came around and it was my turn to meet all the chins! The Humane Society really did the best they could for them, giving them each their own cages, food, hay, treats and even little boxes so they could have a hide-away. Many of the chins looked very healthy, but definitely very under socialized. They were either sleeping, backed into the corner or *woo-wooing* (stress/warning calls) to each other from across the room. I tried to see which chinchilla would accept me, by rubbing their head and offering a pellet. I tried for one, and she accepted the rub only for a second before she got very defensive. I let her be so she could calm down and relax again, and introduced myself to another chin across the room. She wanted nothing to do with anyone, and frankly, I couldn't blame her. I made my rounds around the room about four times until I saw a calm, tiny, little black chinchilla sleeping in his box. I don't know what it was that drew me to him, but I wanted to try with this one. I pet his head and his ears drooped down, just like Sanno's does when I pet him. Then I offered him a pellet and he nom nommed on it as I held it for him. So far so good! Before I tried to pick him up, there was one last test: The chin scratch! I rubbed his little chin and his head tilted so far to the side he almost fell over, haha! Now it was time to hold him. He was so much tinier than I thought! There's no way he's older than six months. When I got him to my chest he reacted the SAME way Sanno does; he went straight for my neck and buried himself in my hair. I massaged his ears to calm him and I felt him start to relax his little body and not be so tense. He looked up at me and wouldn't stop sniffing my chin and lips. I let the staff know "Yes! He's the one! This little black chinchilla in cage #2 ^_^." Since he's a boy he has to be neutered per PETA agreement, I won't be able to bring him home until next week. Even though the excitement will make these next seven days go by excruciatingly slow, this gives me time to make sure his new home is all set and ready for him!
I'm so thankful I live so close by and had the means to be able to provide a new and happy life for a chinchilla that once knew no love. I wish with all my heart that I could take each and everyone home with me, but if I can make sure AT LEAST one will have all the love he needs for the rest of his years, I'll feel content.
Please everyone, if you are able to give a loving home to a chinchilla please do NOT hesitate to adopt one. They are $25 and the Humane Society will give you whatever you need to start. If you can't, please donate to help the Humane Society be able to continue their amazing and life changing work. Any little bit helps.

I can't wait to update you all on Shoyu's home coming and the interactions between Sanno and him. Have a wonderful day and weekend everyone! Say no to fur and yes to rescue adoptions!

OPERATION CHINCHILLA

Hello everyone! Today's post is very special to me as I do own a chinchilla. In fact, Queen Chili is from Adam's Valley View Chinchilla Ranch that was located in Vista, California. My boyfriend, Tyler and his best friend, Alex visited the ranch during Easter weekend since we were interested in an in-door pet. We all agreed to this for the reason being that since we live in a condo so we don't have a fenced in yard and neither of them wanted a cat. Alex suggested a chinchilla since he grew up with them and that he got all of them from this ranch. We were all so excited to have a chinchilla! Chili was 6 weeks old when she came into our family. It was a long drive from San Diego, but she made it to Utah where she is now safe from the torture that was secretly going on at that chinchilla ranch.

Adam's Valley View Chinchilla Ranch had great reviews online and I even contacted the woman via email to make sure it was possible to have a visit since it was required to make an appointment. I never thought or questioned any wrong about this business. Chili is happy and healthy and I couldn't be more happier with my girl. Well, besides the fact that she wants to chew EVERYTHING and takes the bobby pins out of my hair...haha just kidding. With a sweet face like hers, she gets away with anything. Which is also true, she is spoiled rotten! What I really want to know is how could someone harm such an innocent, sweet, fragile animal? What kind of evil posses this woman to electrocute a chinchilla, amputate their limbs with only the use of brandy (liquor) and wire cutters, and pelt them? Her reason, as she states in an undercover investigation, is that they didn't sell. Why didn't they sell? Maybe because they are kept in cramped cages and are not socialized. I really do question how she kept this business for over 50 years and is just now caught doing the terrible things she has been doing. 50 years equals countless lives of chinchillas that were killed innocently and then pelted. They were all conscious too. A person would grab the chinchilla (violently) and let them hang upside down by their tale and then get clipped by their foot to be electrocuted. Their last moments in life are terror as they lay on the table shaking until they are dead. Gone.

Now, my family and friends think I am crazy. Crazy about Chili and all animals. Why does this affect me so much? A big part of it has to do with the fact that Chili came from that ranch. I ask myself: What if we never went there? Why didn't we get two? Why did she do this to these animals? I so wish we would've gotten two chinchillas even if she was the only kit (baby) available. I could've saved two lives from being cut short. But I can at least say I saved one. Another reason why I care about this so much is because animal cruelty happens daily, everywhere. People see animals as disposable things. They don't see them as a living thing. They all have a heart and a brain; so do we. Why do they get treated differently? If someone thinks a person is unfit how come they don't get slaughtered? BECAUSE IT IS WRONG. But if you are animal you have no right. Something has to be done.

Sam Simon, creator of the Simpsons is one of the worlds largest animal advocates. He purchased the farm in conjuction with PETA and the animals were taken to the San Diego Humane Society where they underwent examinations to make sure they were healthy to be able for adoption. Over 400 chinchillas awaited for their chance to be able to experience what love is like for the first time. (Source)

Chili has her own Instagram, yes I know what you are thinking. However, I am so thankful for all of her "chinchilla friends" and their quick response once they found out about the news.  Be sure to keep an eye open for their posts on the blog (like how they helped) ! There is a special surprise coming up!

I thank you for reading this and for anything help you can offer to the humane society.

xoxo, Michelle & Queen Chili

Skincare advice from a 17 year old, that works.

Now, while I am not the one to have perfect skin all year round, it does stay relatively clear most of the time, but when those pesky little zits come up from time to time, I try my absolute best to get rid of them as quickly as possible. I have gone through many face products whether it is face washes or face masks. Both of which I will be talking about today!

The first thing I will be sharing my input on is the face wash that I use. Oddly enough, I use two. I just cannot pick and choose! The first one is from a very popular brand called Noxzema!

After looking everywhere for a wash that suits my sensitive face, my mom told me about this because she used to use it when she was younger. I don’t think I have ever stuck with a face wash for so long! When you open it, it looks like a white cream, but it does not have silicic acid in it so if you have severe acne, this face wash might not be the one for you. It will still slowly make zits disappear, just not as fast as washes with the acid in it. Regardless, if you do have acne, it is not harsh on your skin at all and leaves it feeling soft after usage. It does not make your face dry out or become too oily throughout the day! I can honestly say with this wash, it truly does meet up to its label and deeply cleanses my skin. One of the best things about this wash is that it is cheap and you can find it at your local Walgreens, Target, Walmart, etc. You can find it pretty much anywhere! This is by far my favorite face wash that I have ever used.

Now, this wash, from Neutrogena  is for the girls that have acne. The the pro in this one is that it is not harsh on your face either and does not dry it out like some other washes do. With a few pumps mixed with water, it lathers on your face very smoothly! After washing it off, your skin feels tight and very clean. I found this wash when I ran out of Noxzema one day and the only thing I had to wash my face with was this. At first, I did not use it because I loved the Noxzema one so much but I thought, hey why not give it a try? So, I did. Of course, it did not disappoint! Just like the face wash above, you can find it at any local convenience store near you.

One of the last products I use is actually something I just recently got into! Surprisingly and funny enough, my boyfriend got the first tub of this for me as a birthday gift and as you can already probably guess, I love it! It is a face mask called Mask of Magnaminty! This is by far the ABSOLUTE best face product I have ever used. It is sold at Lush, which luckily for me is in a mall nearby but if you cannot find one, it can always be ordered online. Although it is rather expensive, priced at $24.95, I can easily say that it is well worth the price and will last you several months if you do not use it excessively. On the tub, it says use twice a day, which is exactly what I do! Just as the name says, it is very minty smelling and will leave your face smelling like peppermint. I always use this after I wash my face because it tightens my pores, making my foundation (or whatever cover up I use) looking much better than it would if I didn’t use it. When you open the container, it looks like a green, lumpy paste. I know, sounds gross! As you use it more and more, the grossness effect goes away. Unfortunately for me, I have large pores so when I first put the mask on, it had sort of a burning feeling to it (a good burning feeling) and then my face suddenly felt cold as it hit the air. I left it on for 10 minutes and it tightened on my skin. When I washed it off, my face felt so smooth! I HIGHLY recommend this product to any girl or guys who enjoy taking care of their skin.

A mother's love is endless and crazy.

Hello all,

My name is Andrea. I'm a 23 year old single mom to an 8 month old boy. I know, that you may be thinking my life is probably insane. You are absolutely correct. From the screaming, to the food thrown everywhere, to the middle of the night feedings; I'm a hot mess. But, as every mother would say, I wouldn't trade him for anything. (Well, a good night's sleep seems really tempting right now).

I always said in high school that I never wanted to be a mother. I was so sure of it. I spent many days, nights, and weekends babysitting for extra money and many times while the owner of this blog, Michelle, and I would hang out, we would watch her three siblings. That was enough for me to not want kids. After Landon was born, I definitely still don't want any more. I am "one and done". He is definitely enough energy, personality, and adorableness for me.

I will post some of my experiences I have as a young mom, without sugar coating it. I laugh, I cry, I want to rip my hair out. But most of all, I love harder than I have ever loved another human being. I may also let you know a little back story as the posts go on, but for now, I wanted you all to meet me and my little man, Landon.

Talk to you all later!
 xo-Andrea

Andrea is a 23 year old mom. She is also a server at a private country club, a nursing student, and a badass bitch (when she isn't pulling baby snacks out of her hair) Andrea is an avid lover of music, dogs, and food. When she isn't working or studying, you can find her exploring new things to try with her hair and makeup, chasing around her 8 month old, watching Disney movies, and like true motherly form; shopping with coupons. ;]

Identity

am the popular girl in the center of a crowd,
I have no accomplishments,
Yet I act like I am all too proud.

I am the boy, who acts like I don’t care,
Because when I lay awake at night
My past is all too much to bear.

I am the sister with a secret to hide,
And it’s all because I told my role model
That I’d be loyal, and stay by her side.

I am the bully,
Who lies awake at night,
Listening to my parents scream and fight.

I am the brain,
Who buries her head in a book,
Because it was my father’s life,
Not my intelligence that Cancer took.

I am the girl with a decision to make,
Because I made a bad choice,
And now it’s my future that’s at stake.

I am the boy who always gets in a fight.
Because violence is the only thing I’ve ever known,
And I cry myself to sleep.
Mostly because I feel alone at night.

I am just a kid with a secret.
Yes, I have one too.
You can guess, but I won’t tell you if it’s true.
Unless, or course, you’re willing---
 To reveal something about you.

Did someone say HOMEMADE PIZZA?!

Yes, I love pizza. Being from Chicago, my standards on pizza are pretty high and I am quite picky. Chicago's Deep Dish pizza might be world famous, BUT I am a thin crust type of gal. All that crust is so filling to me and I more than likely chow down on more slices than recommended anyway.

Now that I live in Utah I rarely have pizza; I honestly haven't even had a hot dog here because it just doesn't compare. Sure there will be a Papa John's pizza here and there (that is not to my request, but I was hungry) but still nothing authentic. I really do not know of any food Utah is known for besides learning about fry sauce. Living on my own, I have to get creative sometimes in the kitchen. I try to shop for groceries in ways where I can make different meals using the same ingredients. This is where homemade pizza came into play! I know I'm not the first to have done it, but let me tell you....it is so good. Read on and see all the deliciousness!

Crust is key. I have experimented using different types of ingredients for crust such as naan which is a type of Indian bread and pita bread. The only kind that I have had great results with are the flat outs! They are tortilla like and their main use is for making sandwich wraps. They come in different types like multi grain, tomato, and light so I liked that I had options. You can find
them at most of your grocery stores!
Toppings. I used to only like pepperoni and sausage, then it was just cheese, but now I love veggies...just no mushrooms please. I like to chop up everything and separate them in tupperware. I like chicken on my pizza as well so I will have that cooking while I chop up my veggies. The last time I made chicken for my pizza I only used two ingredients- coconut oil and balsamic vinegar of Modena, both available at Trader Joe's. The chicken was delicious, I highly recommend you try it! I will also post later on about my favourite ways to eat chicken.

Sauces and cheese are really up to what you are feeling. The last time I made myself pizza I used a ranch-like dressing and an Italian pepper sauce mixed with salsa. The cheese I used was mozzarella and a hot pepper mix.

With this thin of a crust, I baked my pizzas at 400 degrees fahrenheit for about 8 minutes. While they were in the oven, I grated some parmesan cheese and was getting very anxious for my pizzas to be done.

I made two pizzas only because I like to experiment. I made:

Pizza 1: flat out, ranch sauce, chicken, green onion, broccoli, mozzarella cheese, and parmesan cheese.

Pizza 2: flat out, Italian pepper sauce/salsa, green/red bell peppers, pepperoni, green onion, hot pepper cheese, and parmesan cheese.

And voila! Delicious homemade pizzas. Inexpensive, non-greasy, tasty, and easy pizza!

What are your favourite toppings? How do you make your pizzas? What else do you want me to make?
Let me know in the comments!

xoxo, Michelle

Urban Decay Electric Palette: Smokey Eye

Lately I’ve been kind of obsessed with Urban Decay’s Electric Palette. Looking at it, one may think it can only be used for crazy, bold, over-the-top looks. While the Electric Palette is great
for achieving a bold look, it’s also great for adding a pop of color to everyday makeup looks.
The number one thing that stands out to me about this palette is the color pigment load.
Really, what you see is what you get (and I recommend using Urban Decay Eyeshadow
Potion Primer underneath the shadow for added longevity). Normally when I use high pigment
shadows that contain shimmer, I have tons of fallout under eye. I was SO shocked to see that
my under eye area was completely clear of fallout, and I made sure this was true with every
color!

So now on to the colors! Revolt is a bright metallic silver with silver glitter. Gonzo is a matte bright turquoise. Slowburn is a matte bright red-orange. Savage is a matte hot pink. Fringe is a bright metallic teal. Chaos is a matte bright blue. Jilted is a bright metallic fuchsia with blue shimmer. Urban is a bright metallic purple. Freak is a pearly bright green with gold shimmer. Thrash is a matte bright lime green. I must note that Slowburn, Savage, Jilted, and Urban are not intended to be used for the immediate eye area. Other uses for these are blush, hair chalk, and lipstain. For eye looks, the possibilities are endless (but I will give ya one of my favorite ways to use this :p)! Apply your base color to the lid. Take a dark grey or black shadow and make a “v” shape in the outer corners. Use a fluffy, blending brush and apply a shadow of your choice to the brush (just a little bit). Then blend away! It should leave a trace amount of color. Another great use is to wet an angled liner brush with water and then dip the brush into your shadow of choice. You have now made your own eyeliner with the shadow and can give yourself a bold cat eye!

A great way to spice up your smokey eye!
